Optician
Duties and Responsibilities:
An Optician designs, measures, fit, and adapts lenses and
frames for clients according to the written optical prescription or
specification. For example, they measure a customer for size of eyeglasses and
coordinate frames with facial and eye measurements and optical prescription.
Prepare work order for optical laboratory containing instructions for grinding
and mounting lenses in frames.
Salary:
$ 14.80 per hour
$33,300 Annually
Education:
While some opticians enter the profession with only high
school diplomas, most employers prefer applicants with optician certificates or
associate's degrees. Like an Associate’s degree program with courses like optical
theory, ophthalmic dispensing, lens technology, finishing procedures and an
optical laboratory.
Reflection:
I think being an Optician is a good job because you get paid very well and you won’t need to go to college. So to me I would like to become an Optician.
